Armor
Armor Management Portal (SOC)
Problem
The UX team was tasked with coming up with branding for our new management portal. After feedback from customers our Chief Technical Officer decided we needed to update our look and our entire process. Customers wanted a cleaner look as well as different features such as dark mode, clearer tables, better reporting, and better understanding of what application they were using.

new portal -

Initial Research by taking a look at everything
We found that our users were not happy with how cluttered our navigation appeared. We were using a left hand navigation that was organized but had so many links that customers were overwhelmed. It also took a lot of screen real-estate so on certain pages took up valuable space. We also discovered that in our older portal there were many styles and design patterns being used that broke any form of cohesiveness.

Creating a Library of goodies
We started the process of choosing colors for both light and dark modes. We tested these colors against the ADA Compliance. After colors scheme was approved we began to see all the components and template pages that were being used in our portal. We identified layouts and began the process of improving our pages and components used to populate them.

Discovering the flow
Because this project was so large we needed to find out were we needed to put our focus towards. I was tasked to create a very high fidelity user flow chart and scenario map to see how we might approach breaking up the project.
Discovered:
-
possible solution to our navigation needs
-
integration of our on boarding process
-
how to purchase new services and how they would be added to Armor Management Portal
SOC (Security Operational Center) / On boarding
I was given the job to work on our on new onboarding process as well as work with the Chief Security Officer and his team to create a new portal and tool. We started not with our technology but instead what does our customer want, what does our SOC team want and how we can make there job/experince better.
Building out in Sketch
When our stake holders approved of the usability we then started to work in Sketch to bring it to life. Using the library we created I pieced it together. Using Marvel we created a prototype, then we tested it again with our SOC team who had not been involved with any of the discussions. After a few minor tweaks we began to develop.
